HISTORY OF THE LIBRARY
     The College of Human Kinetics started in 1921 when the Board of Regents created the Department of Physical Education under the College of Education. A department library was established to provide reading and teaching materials for the faculty and students.

 

M I S S I O N

The CHK Library's mission is to provide comprehensive resources and services that support the research, teaching, and learning needs of the University of the Philippines community in the field of Human Movement Science, Physical Education, and Leisure Studies.

V I S I O N

To be the premier  research center on Human Movement Science, Physical Education, and Leisure Studies in the country.

 

SERVICES OFFERED

     The CHK Library has the following services: Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC), Internet Connection, Wi-Fi, Current Awareness Services, E-lib, printing services, reference service,  database searching (online journals)

COLLECTIONS
     The library has a collection of books, audio-visual materials, serials, posters, thesis, vertical file, and newspaper clippings on sports, physical education, fitness, health, recreation, dance, and nutrition articles.

GENERAL STATISTICS
     The average population of the college is about 530 students but since all students of the university has to take up 4 semesters of Physical Education subject, the library also caters to those students who are taking up Physical Education subjects.
     The library has an average of 14781.4 library users every year. The current staff members comprise of 2 professional librarians and 1 administrative aide

FACILITIES
     There are OPAC and internet terminals, 1 computer for printing services and 2 computers for the lending and return desk. The library allows computer and electricity use (for a fee OR to be deducted from the alloted number of hours for undergraduate students). The library is located at the first floor of the gymnasium, so access is easy for people with disabilities.

CHK LIBRARY INTERNAL POLICY



  • The library follows a dress code for its users. Sandos/jerseys are not allowed.

  • Students who cannot present a validated UP ID will have to pay Php20.00 as Library Fee for that day (based on Art. 10, Sec. 2 and Art. 9, Sec. 17 of the University Library Organic Act)

The CHK Library

​The College of Human Kinetics library is one of the unit libraries of the University of the Philippines Main Library. Its main purpose is to provide the intellectual needs of undergraduate and graduate students who are in the field of physical education, sports  science, recreation and dance. It also caters to all students of the University who are taking basic physical education courses which are prerequisite for graduation for an undergraduate degree or title. It also serves athletes and sports  enthusiasts.
It has the most complete collection of literature related to physical education, sports    science, recreation and dance in the country.​
